Reviews New textbook on stroke
Stroke and and cerebrovascular disease is a textbook aimed at providing a presentation of stroke and vascular diseases of importance for brain blood circulation. The target group are all concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with stroke. The book is divided into four parts: background, diagnosis, treatment, and results and rehabilitation. It contains 24 chapters written by 19 authors. The two editors, Mätzsch and Gottsäter, respectively, vascular surgeons and "medicinsk angiolog" with ties to Kärlcentrum Malmö-Lund, University Hospital MAS in Malmö.
The drug is pedagogically structured with illustrations, photos, and text boxes. Each chapter has an introductory summary of key points, and most chapters end with a text box with practical advice. It is a force that has rendered the standard diagnostic instruments peter and the starcatcher such as the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, Glasgow Coma Scale and the Modified Rankin Scale.
It listed a number

of references at the end of chapters, but these appear peter and the starcatcher unfortunately not in the text. It seems strange to me that referring the results of case studies without peter and the starcatcher reference peter and the starcatcher to the article quoted in the text. Reference lists does not follow a uniform template, peter and the starcatcher which I would expect peter and the starcatcher in such a book.
The book provides an overview of a variety of topics within this vast field. It is inter alia well informed in relation to the new neuro radiological imaging, transcranial Doppler ultrasound, thrombolytic treatment of ischemic

stroke, and endovascular procedures. One weakness is that there is little peter and the starcatcher in depth with regard to neurological differential diagnosis, rehabilitation and diagnosis and treatment of sequelae after stroke illnesses. Editors' background has probably had an impact on internal priorities, which may be part of the explanation for the entire six chapters dealing with various aspects peter and the starcatcher related to stenosis of the carotid arteries. The chapter on eye symptoms peter and the starcatcher of carotid bifurcation stenoses counts 21 pages, while the diagnosis and management of dissections of pre-cerebral arteries are devoted only three pages.
Being born in Norway is like winning the lottery, it is often said. We who live in this outpost far to the north in the world, has a prosperity, security and social welfare that most countries can only dream about. But there are things that are not perfect, writes Kari Lion Mogstad Dahl, assistant professor at the university.
"Doctors are expected to keep up to date on the treatment methods they use, and cease to provide treatment if reliable studies showing that it has no effect," writes Trond Markestad the journal peter and the starcatcher 21/2012.
